Arc Pylon Bug
I know people have said this before, but you guys at Arkane need to do something about the Arc Pylon inside of Jindosh's mansion. Removing or destroying the whale oil tank does nothing to shut down the Pylon, and the game doesn't indicate any other power source connected to it.

There are two tanks, one controls the barrier to one hallway, and the other controls the pylon. Neither of them is obvious nor easy to reach.

I unplugged the one underneath the floor, which Jindosh specifically remarks "You've deactivated my Arc Pylon" when you remove it. I followed that cable all the way to the Pylon and it was still active despite the cable not glowing with power.

The Pylon is the one that shares space with the piano and large glass room, that turns upside down when you switch it. Are you sure that's the one you took out? That is pretty weird, if that's the case, but I know that area was incredibly difficult to keep straight.

Have you tried reinserting the whale oil tank, then taking it out again? Maybe it didn't register correctly... By your description I do think you took out the correct tank, I also got the comment when I did it.

(( lol given where this takes place, it seems oddly fitting that "have you tried turning it off and back on again" is an absolutely valid instruction. ))

So if you can't turn it off, can you use a rewire tool on it?
Zekiran May 18, 2017 @ 3:17am
You *can* turn it off, the power supplies for both the pylon and the hallway wall of light are just somewhat difficult to reach.

If they're going for a nonlethal run, rewiring it would ruin that.

If I recall correctly, it should be possible to avoid the pylon room altogether. In case OP never gets to shut if off AND is doing nonlethal.

Not sure if that is still possible if you're doing a 'no powers' run...

I just went through Jindosh's bedroom and around the outside wall of the mansion to the maintenance hatch which led to the elevator. After taking care of Jindosh and his Clockwork Soldiers, I hauled Sokolov back through the walls between the main rooms until I got to the front entrance, skipping the Pylon room altogether. This issue has been brought up before, as past threads on this bug have proven.

The tank of whale oil that's around the corner from the dead dude does power the Arc Pylon, as Jindosh comments on it when you pull the tank out. Reinserting the tank doesn't do anything. I think Arkane simply missed a line in the code that says "If oil tank power = false, then pylon state = 0" or something like that.

I used a rewire tool on it. Had no issues.

Not an option if you're on a nonlethal run.

Why not? Can't you just knock everyone out around it before using the rewiring kit? That worked in my last playthrough.

Unless you've got a massive number of sleep darts etc, getting close enough to do that is really, really hard... y'know, due to the pylon.

Maybe I'm spoiled from playing Emily and always using Domino. That is a terrible bug, though. What about going in the back way?
Zekiran May 19, 2017 @ 11:17pm
Well I did just do the entire area no-powers Corvo, and though it took me a while to locate that stupid tank it wasn't bugged for me as far as I know. (nonlethal). So I want to correct myself: there are THREE tanks, that one is below the other side of the glass room, and then two going to walls of light. (at least, that's.... what I'm remembering.)
