How do you get metal and spare parts going faster?
My base comes too a standstill when I cann't get more metal. I build three mines and a factory and nothing happins. I bring in more people and stll nothing happens. I.m ready too go back too attila or city skylines.

How many workers do you have? How many colonists? How many carrier bots?

If you have 5 workers and 3 mines it will take you forever to mine one ore as the workers will spread their time between the mines. You are better off with fewer mines unless you have a large population.

Also there is only so much steel to go around......if you build buildings and power and collectors and make spares and guns and chips and robots that all needs steel.

So be patient or turn off things for a while that you don't want the workers to work on. You can either turn off the power to whole buildings or just turn off power to individual machines. That way you can redirect your workers as you see fit.

Also bots, bots, and more bots! It takes a while cause metal is a speed gap for the whole game but bots are a tremendous help for spares and metal production. Driller bots work the mines freeing workers to produce resources, carrier bots carry things around freeing workers to work machines, and construction bots construct buildings and repair structures freeing engineers to work machines.

The less emergent work your workers and engineers have to do the more likely they are to produce resources and the more efficient their production will be. Also bars are morale's best friend and morale directly impacts production speed, lower morale makes colonists less effective at work.

You can have 30 mines and 100 workers and 10 factories with 200 engineers. If you keep building non stop, you will never get metal for production, as it's highest priority is for constructions.

until late game, you will usually have difficulty producing enough metal. Be patient, don't overbuild. Trade for ore or metal if you can (great way to get rid of all that bioplastic). And never trade your metal for anything until you know your production is strong. the production of metal and spares is done ENTIRELY by your worker population, so you have to have enough workers to mine the ore, convert it to metal in the processing plant (you have to have enough of those too), plus do all the other things that workers have to do like carry stuff around.

I have 6 driller bots, 2 mines - how come my workers are still in the mines? I specifically took the time to build 6 to get my workers *out* of the mine and onto machinery. Do I need even more drillers or that just how the game works. I'll start working more carrier bots in the mean time

actually, the production of spares is a Engineers task.

Oops, my bad, I stand corrected!

because bots dont stay in the mines 24/7. you will need around 12 bots to keep 3 in there most of the time. also if you have idle workers, sometimes they get the notice that a slot is free in the mine before the bot does, i think.

I haven't observed the drill bots that much so take this with a pinch of salt, but it seems they mostly only come out when they need repairs. Bots should get assigned to the mines before workers, so as long as you have at least one free bot then workers shouldn't go there.

For now wkalbe, only the disposal of your base room can solve your problem...
not in start because all is compact, but when your base become big... metal zone, parts zone, vegetable aera, and a food and sleep in each zone...

it s a simple vertical classification, one task, first idle in the list, bot or people...

post scriptum, hi gekkibi, sigh-phi-guy, have a nice day...

Funny, you should be young...
This is the steam forum for planetbase, and not the steam forum for the owner of planetbase...
And i m still a potential steam buyer (with more 100 games...), who look the update and have interest to this game... Give up, you can t make me go away... it look very too interesting. And i m here to talk the game, not your wish and review of me.

I m not giving the ultimate answers but it can help i think.

And it s the last time i talk of me, than planetbase, it s a boring subject, i think...
