They only get stored in the meal makers. Just build some more storage for your meat and veg.

Should be a Meal Maker that just produces meals that is forced as a first step out of delivery to be stored somewhere., because it would take up half the space to have finished meals instead. I want one.

Build your canteens next to storage. It seems best to have small clusters which are self contained (more or less) to minimize travel. Don't be affraid to recycle and reconfigure, especially with crop pads. If you havew too much starch get rid of starch plants and plant vegitables.

I wish when traders dellivered the goods they would appear on some type of sled. Maybe up to 10 items on a sled that could then be pulled to stoarge or if you have a storage facility beam the items into storage. Making everyone quit what they are doing to carry one item at a time to the trade ship and then one item at a time back is horrible. Also do the plant pods die or quit producing at some point? It seems I'm going along fine with a big excess of veggies and meat in the storage then suddenly none at all. Until this is fixed I am pretty much done because I hit the wall over and over.

No, you can't move finished meals to storage, and that's mildly annoying (it would be nice to make it a very low priority task for carrybots, but if you did that it wouldn't make any /pratical/ difference, as you would have to have tons of carrybots to get it to fire).

However, moving a finished meal takes up exactly the same amount of space as the ingredients that made it -- there is no space savings to be had here. The meal maker produces /two/ (or three, for three ingredient recipies) meals at once when it processes two ingredients at once. Wheat + Meat = /two/ Burgers, not just one.

That's not true, incredients are the same size as a finished meal. Thus if you make one meal out of 2 incredients, you save 50% space. Unless I completely misremember this all, you may be right that food that requires two ingredients also produce 2 food.

In that case though, it's still beneficial because when you trade them away, you profit more from finished meals.

I always thought 2 ingredients made 1 meal if its not a basic meal thus reducing the space required.

There ya go, that would solve a lot of issues right there, maybe even a large bot you can buy.

Or even a machine that for example creates a bigger piece of vegetables. So you can combine 2 vegetables into a bigger one, and if you bring that to a meal maker, you get more food. But mainly also, it's less to carry to a trade ship. Loke something you can build in the processing plant.

I think the whole game shows poor thinking though, it's extremely basic where there could be more fun and intelligent additions.

Meal Maker makes food, then you can store those meals in a Meal Dispenser that can store many more finished meals, and colonists pick up their food from that. Less space used. If you haven't connected a Meal Maker to a Meal Dispenser, they take their food from the Meal Maker itself, but a Dispenser is a more convenient way of getting their meals, as it can store meals instead of getting them from a Storage.

You should also be able to select a Meal Maker and make sure it only produces one type of food, so it waits for all the ingredients before producing. Completely optional of course, since you might run out of meals if you only got one ingredient.

In the Processing Plant you could build a Vegetable Packager, and also a Meat Packager, combining 2 into one larger, for faster meal making and storage once your colony has grown.

Well, lots you could have done with this all :/

I believe when more than 1 ingredient is used, you get more than 1 meal.

you can trade ingrediants for meals with some traders it helps to empty the storeage since they take % commision they even have the same value except the comminsion

by the way they dont need seating early game you can just have a room full of drinking fountains and meal makers (vending machines) your colonists eat seated on the floor but will travel anywhere on the base to eat

Mayhap something like this could make the whole system a bit more flexible as well as add a progressive element to it:

Haha thanks, well I'll toss it in the Feedback thread in case they should happen to read it. They seem rather quiet so feels like they ain't really checking in that much.

Im sure they do read the suggestions, it may just be that they get so much they can't reply/introduce all the changes. I find it strange that with this being a fairly new game they would ignore suggestions like this.
