why would you want to rotate circular buildings?

I suspect they mean for airlock placement, they are probably trying to place the airlock first, if you place an o2 gen strategically then you can control how the airlock is placed

To add on to what Ofan said, the airlock will ALWAYS rotate towards whatever module you connect it to - So if you place the O2 generator first, that is the direction it will point its back towards.

I want to rotate buildings for these reasons, for a start:
I want the cross-path to connect passages, allowing people to walk straight through a canteen or whatever, instead of walking to the side, then across, then to the side again. It's there so people don't have to walk around, and I'd like to use it for that.
I want the entrance of the mine to face the airlock. Because that's obviously what anyone would do when they build a mine.
I want the benches and such that I build inside of something like a multidome to be facing where I want them to face, not in locked-in orientations that make the room look stupid.
I want to line up the edges of the landing pads so they look like they weren't haphazardly thrown in, but instead planned out to orient alone a line, making them more attractively placed.
I want my wind generators to face the direction from which all sandstorms blow, instead of spinning like mad at a strange tangent.

+1 :D

It's be good to be able to build the airlock first, and being able to rotate it the way you prefer it, and from there continue building the rest of the base.

Doesn't it get rotated each time you try to put it down?

I was messing around with some buildings such as solar flares and wind turbines and noticed they kept changing direction.

For the love of... it DOES GET ROTATED - TO WHEREEVER YOU CONNECT IT TO.

Yup, that's why all you need to do is thing about where you place the origin building like an o2 gen so the airlock will be facing the way you want when it auto orients

Chillout man, I'm new to the game. You need to get a hold of your emotions.

It's called emphasis for a reason - My emotions are nice and dandy.

This.
For the love of god, and the mercy of every OCD player of this game, allow us to rotate things to align to a grid.

I second this, you're pretty much excluding the entire German market without a level of OCD satisfaction
