The lack of spares..
PLEAASE , for the love of space gods, let the outside structures go longer before they have to be maintained. they use up spares SO quickly..

So quickly that if something breaks down and has the completely red repair icon, they just dont ever repair it. they keep maintaining other structures around them but never repair the ones that break down so im forced to just recycle it and i lose the metal from the connections most of the time. this is a loss of metal for no reason. please. fix it. this is incredibly annoying and has killed my base multiple times now. I know its all about prioritizing but ive never been able to start up spare production fast enough for this to not happen. i will keep practicing and get better, but damnn guys.. too intense

I lost of couple bases due to power failures because of lack of spares. What I've found is that it's better to get vegetables up first and trade the excess for spares until you can afford proper spare production.

i do this when i can but i dont get that many spare traders o.o

Thit,

In case it helps, here is my video tutorial, since the start can be pretty tough for newer players:

A small tip to help you. When you first start out, build a medium solar, medium wind and medium power collector. They last longer before needing repairs so gives you just enough time to start producing spares. Its what i do and i dont really have many spares problems.

yea that deff will help..... I went for the medium water largest power collector and largest windmill as this will give you a good start....remember to get metal production going asap by build a landing pad so you can get more workers on producing da metal .

Check out Jalindo's link.... helped me loads.

i did and ive made them work now :3 i even had bases up to the size of 140 people now. last time i failed cuz i didnt have power for 1 night because my power stopped working almost all at once cuz i couldnt keep up with spares. even though i had 20 engineers and i wasnt building much else. they never seem to make spares even though its prioritised. i didnt have power one night and everyone died.

Though weird observation. The people who got stuck outside the base actually lasted longer than the people inside the base. im not sure how this makes sense.

I remember my first desert base dieing out one night because a sandstorm occurred during the day, and then the wind died out at night: which led me to the conclusion that its very important to have significantly more power generation in both wind and solar than consumption

My engineers are just lazy, they don't want to do their job even though its the only thing for them to do, they just stand idle.... it annoys me greatly

the amount of spares you need is absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ridiculous your ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ai colonists just DONT produce enough of them or fast enough even putting the building on priortiy they still dont, you just cant counter the usage of them, its game breaking for me because i start over so many times after putting hours and hours into 1 game just to get things right only for something as trivial as this to cause me to have to just quit because at that point theres nothing i can do about it. Half tempted to get a refund because this isnt enjoyable as much as i would like it to be, Wheres the fun in being forced to start over for minor ♥♥♥♥♥♥ things that are in game, for example the ai in general are crap, you need so much stuff so quickly to begin with or your people will in some way or another die anyway, you need lots of power in both solar and wind simply because the wind is so randomly ♥♥♥♥ in a bad way that there pretty much is none most the time even on the 2nd planet where apparently its good for turbines its the same, more power = spares needed to maintain = you will eventually lose because the demand is too high for what your crappy workers produce, and i could go on... sigh had hopes for this but it aint fun like this

Then build more spare parts stations ;)

This should be fixed in 1.0.4. This also results in less use of spares since you will always repair a structure fully with the spares, so if you repair a more damages building you get more usage time out of the spare.

I've decided not to play it anymore until its Ai is sorted out.

Time is a precious commodity as it is in this game... so doing restarts beacause bad Ai is'nt fun at all and a waste of everones time....

Real shame I was enjoying it for the most part.

So this problem is almost a year old? Was a showstopper for me yesterday: managed to level up to 70+ colonists within four hours, sizing up to "big" installations, only to experience a complete breakdown due to repair issues despite the fact I had almost *tripled* my spare patrts production. I'm not willing to experience that again!
