Intruders
Is there a way or a mod to disable intruders. I was enjoying the game and built a nice complex, then I got 4 intruders that started killing my colonists. I ended up constantly watching the landing pad ready to lock out the intruders but then I couldn't enjoy the game or progress. Took too much time watching the landing pad! If there is no way to disable these intruders, then the game is over for me. :(

Intruders are actually easy to handle without managing airlocks.

They don't generally arrive until you hit a level of 100, so take your time early on, but then just prepare for them.

Build a security center at a dead end and staff it with 8 guards. Make at least 8 weapons so they are armed. Have another 8 guards for "shift" duty while some sleep. Connect an airlock, build a landing pad, and demo your other pad.

If intruders land, the guards will immediately start killing them until they are all dead. Set your alert to RED as soon as you hear gunfire or see intruder alert warnings. You don't even have to deal with them at all. Go back to green when they are all dead.

Just make sure you have a sick bay with 6 beds nearby so they can get healed. Your guards will take some damage.

Thanks for the suggestion on how to handle intruders. I was hoping to stop them before gunfire. I hate violence, I think there's too much in the world and I prefer to enjoy a peaceful game. I wish there was a way to disable them from even arriving. I was playing Banished and enjoyed that. Then I found Planetbase and it was going well until intruders arrived and it ruined the game for me. I'm a very peaceful person by nature, hate guns and violence. I do appreciate your comment and you taking the time to reply. Thank you. :)

Perfect! Thank you for that very helpful tip. :)

Why do you say to build it in a dead-end?
or do you mean an airlock is attached to the security?

I added 3 zeros to that number, now it reads 42000000. But, I was wondering, what if I changed that number to Zero. Would that tell the game zero intruders? or would it work better if I changed it to 999000000? Just curious, but is this number in game days or hours?

Ok thanks. Just to make sure they don't show up, I changed the number to 999000000. That should do it LOL.

Assuming you are playing on windows, save your game and exit. Go to (my documents)>planetbase>saves and edit the most recent .sav file using any simple editor. Search for "time-to-next-intruder" and set it to a huge value by adding a few trailing zeros. Save the changes, restart planetbase and continue your game, no more intruders.

You hacker fiend. ;-)

It's likely a signed int, so it would be advisable not to make it larger than 2.1 billion.

LOL, math was my worst subject.... I think 999000000 is just under 1 billion, is that correct??? Is this time in days or hours?

You can build interior around the landing pad with only one airlock. This pad is used for colonist ship only. You can turn on the airlock and welcome new people, or intruders will be isolated and suffocate. Another pad for trader, you can set by landing permission and don't use both at the same time. Guard is no need. If you want to get visitor to your base, you should build security center next to the landing pad, guards and guns have to be prepared. :)

Thanks to all of you for your great tips and information. I'm playing on the first planet and have reached 138 colonists so far. As a precaution I have enclosed the landing pad with buildings and it has one airlock. I'm hoping the 999000000 will be high enough to stop intruders completely and the number will continue to be reset to this new value without ever having intruders. I would love to have one landing pad for traders and another for colonists but when I set one to trader, the other changes as well. Pity we can't specify for each pad.

Just a thought, but would it blow up the game if I removed the code for "time-to-next-intruders". If I can change the number, why can't I just remove that code part altogether?

Ok, I won't touch the code and just hope my high figure will keep them away. Thanks :)

Great :) I'll keep my eye on the days, but just to be sure I've also enclosed the landing pad and an airlock in a circle of buildings. So they ain't never getting into my base LOL.

Btw, I went into the save files and checked to make sure the number was the same on each save. I noticed on two of the saves (1, 2) the number I set was still there. But, on save 3, I have this weird number where my 999000000 was. It now reads 9.99E+08 What is that and what does it mean?

well, the easiest solution:

build some domes/pads in the following order:

landing pad - airlock - control center (with a few security cams) - your base (most likely a storage)

for later game you could do sth like that

Airlock \
Airlock - oxygen generator - control center - base
Airlock /

Probably you should build your mine at the other end of the base, so your colonists dont have to travel so far....

already exsists a way to disable intruders

Thanks Trixi, but I wanted a way to prevent intruders from arriving in order to play a violent free game. I appreciate your suggestion.

Base Invaders, that mod sounds perfect and would go well with changing the "time to next intruder" code. I just downloaded it but it says to put it into my "mods" folder. I don't have one in Planetbase. Do I just create one and put it in there?

Does anyone know why my 999000000 turned into 9.99E+08 in one of my saves?
