Crash and freeze

I just downloaded this game since it went on sale. The first time I clicked it it started to load and then crashed. I tried again and got about 2 min. into the tutorial and it froze. It froze my whole maching and I had to unplug it and turn it back on. I validated the files and tried again...same problem. One time the video froze but the music played.

If anyone can help me I would surely appreciate it. :)

Thank you for answering my post. Here's info. on my computer:

Windows 7 Home 64bit
GForce GTX645
Core i7-477 CPU@3l40 GHz
7.94 gb ram
1920x1080 60Hz

My graphics card is up to date.

I have tried all the tips you have listed in other posts except for "command line arguments" and "Planetbase registry key" I am absolutely clueless when it comes altering things like this.


Restart your computer.
Reinstall the game.
Run the game in administrator mode.
Update your video card drivers.
Disable your anti-virus.
Try running the game with one of the following command line arguments: -force-d3d9, -force-d3d11 or -force-opengl
Delete the Planetbase documents folder here: Users\Documents\Planetbase.
Try the Steam troubleshooting suggestions (https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=5688-ifhz-2170) in particular running Steam as administrator.
Disable the Steam Overlay, see here: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=9394-yofv-0014
Delete the Planetbase registry key here: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Madruga Works\Planetbase.

One thing that may be of note.....everytime I verify file integrety it tells me that one file did not validate. It reinstalls the file which has 912 byes. The game still cashes when I start the tutorial.

I do hope there is a way to resolve this. I played a game similar to this way back in the 90's. Can't remember the name of it but I really liked it and I was very happy to see this game come out.
