Stuck in monastery

So I didn't fight Aric in basic combat but did do the quest and search for the murderer and it was Aric, so now Aric is gone but I can't advance, I received the strength potion and did the other side quest of giving that man his book and helped someone else take over digging the dung.

So how can I advance? Since I talked with everyone, but don't seem to be able to go further :s.

My experience a little different than yours so far, I took some things out of a chest, got branded a thief and now no one will talk to me. I need a staff from the smith, but he tells me to piss off, lol. No idea how to make amends, every NPC is a dead end. help!

This just happened to me, branded as a thief and no one will talk? Does that mean the game is a dead end?? Did you work something out?

Dead end, not the only dead end in this game, back in the day I eventually restarted the game & took an entire different questline, just to get stuck again because I was doing side quests & main quests at the same time. So I got once stuck in the monestary & my 2nd time in a city.
