Report a translation problem
So you managed to not only overlook the blank scrolls in traders inventory but also you overlooked a chest.
Risen is a game which focusses heavily on exploration. Well you can ignore the exploration but then you run into probems the developers intended. People who dont explore should not get everything. Its a form of reward system for the players who explore.
I know the OP already found a solution; I'm just mentioning this in case anyone else ever runs into this problem.
Edit: Another cool thing I just discovered: if you have a telekinesis scroll, you can stand outside the door of Josh's tavern and use telekinesis to snatch the blank scroll off the wall without alerting Josh or anyone else.
