Worth playing 2021?

Just finished Elex and I really liked Gothic 1 and 2 back in the day so I decided to try this one. So far it's a little too dated for me, clunky combat(always with PB I know), fetch quest((gather 10 grain, kill 10 wolves) and the user interface all make me think maybe I made a mistake.. Is the story/mechanics/gameplay worth continuing to slug thru it?

Imo yes, although the bugs (ctd and else) are still an issue without so many fix around them.

Yes. I first bought this game back in 2015, and I have NEVER regretted doing so. It's worth the price. I know that some people have encountered bugs with the game, but I have not. In addition, fixes for most of the really common bugs have been known for awhile now. Also the beginning is a little bit slow, it picks up after about an hour, and the leveling mechanics are easy to grasp; Elex uses almost the exact same method.

Yes, it's a pretty good game, mainly because of the story and the characters IMO. Playing as a mage/warrior of the order is a good way to surpass the clunkyness of the combat

I was gonna go Bandit/Crossbow for that purpose. Think mage is better?

I'm surprised even the GOG.com version hasn't fixed the bugs. On that version I experience a bug when you climb over rocks or slopes and your character gets stuck and the camera makes it look like your character disappeared and the only way out is to kill the game with Task Manager.

I think the game overall isn't bad, but it lacks the optimizations needed to be played properly in 2021. If you have some old PC with Windows XP or Vista from around the time when the game was released, go ahead, but on a new PC with a newer Windows - not a chance.

I remember the countless discussions on World of Risen back in the day about the combat mechanics. I actully really liked the combat and thought it was not clunky at all. Have to replay to see if I'm still of the same opinion.

That bug can be fixed if you force vsync on in your graphics card settings.

You poor people running Windows 10. I feel for you. I dual boot Windows XP and Windows 10. I can play 10 hours straight, with no crashes, fully modded, HD Textures, Unofficial patch, etc on Windows XP. Oh, get the Anti-click fest mods to make the game better too. Yes it`s worth playing in 2021.

I just finished my staff build, in combat wise its fun and effective even without a shield due to the long reach, please refer to the video

if it was worth playing when it came out then its worth playing today , the fact that its 2021 doesnt matter lol
