"What worked for me was to start the game from within Steam instead of the desktop shortcut. When you click on the game in Steam, you actually get three options: Play, Play with controller and play with mouse & keyboard. I just clicked on 'Play' and it worked. No more blackscreen.
Edit: Desktop shortcut now works as well. If you are affected by a black screen then maybe try launching the game once from within Steam."
I have never installed the game before on this pc
I even tried using win 7 compat dpi changes too

I said I did already
I would like more peole too.
did you see the fix I did find?
its sad as it plagues all of thier games tital lords risen 3 for example
you must LOWER WINDOWS SCALING to 100% to see skills
for RISEN 1 you MUST lower WINDOWS scaling to 100% for the game to start.
not 125 not 150% 100%
I hope they patch this and others.. its annoying
this worked for me:
go to steamapps/common/Risen/data/ini
open ConfigDefault.xml with notepad
find this line
replace Bottom with 1080
and
replace Right with 1920
save the file and launch game.
It worked for me so hopefully it works for others ~
Bro, thank you!
Same here too...
I played Risen almost 3 hours on a Samsung TV with hdmi, and it worked fine. Now I start up the game on another Samsung monitor, but this is Samsung Odyssey G55 through display kable.
idk which anyone has now
I can verify that it worked like a charm for me too! Well done mate!
and yet no one seems to say yep correct
its all about that
period..
