Is crystal magic fun?
I have finished this game once as Don's henchman.
after that, I played again and become mage.
but my first impression of crystal magic wasn't good so I quit replaying
Risen1 and playing Risen2(actually fun for me)
after I finished Risen3, I remember Risen1 and give another tiry of this game.

is crystal magic fun? and any tip for using magic or managing mana?

I got my mana up to around 200 just by using potions etc. to increase my mana. So you can save a lot of LP there.

Crystal magic mainly consists of just spamming the attack button until an enemy is dead, and there really isn't any skill involved except for using the occasional mana potion and trying not to get surrounded.

You only get access to the best (and most fun) offensive rune spell very late in the game, to the point where it's practically useless.

That's disappointing..
Thanks for advice.

I once played a firemage with a 2H-Sword.
Engaging with magic and finishing them off in melee combat is fun.
You should concentrate on only one kind of crystal and level it as fast as possible (might be wise to save some LP in advance, because the ice crystal is almost useless, if it doesn't freeze your enemies).

It's still quite powerful, but unfortunately the versatility of magic got drastically reduced to just a few skills, of which some are only unlocked rather late in the game. That's why I decided to also level my swordskill, because swords look better than staves and if needed you can use a shield. The runeshield fits a mage perfectly.

One thing I didn't liked was how the Titan was made to be fought with melee. Staves not included.

Rather dissapointing after spending hours to max out your mana and Crystal skills only having to resort to a hammer/sword that you barely used up until that moment.

I was a bit irked by this as well. The titan battle was like an entirely different game.

Two Worlds 2 did the same exact thing. Tossed your skills out the window and forced you to kill the boss with a ballista in a similar style boss routine. This one was a bit more annoying because it took a lot longer to kill the damn thing.

I just pretend the game ends when you kill Mendoza.

for me, the best part of Risen 1 end after chapter 1, like Gothic 1.

Just look what happened when they've tried to do something different. Yeah.
Yeah, that's the reason why Gothic3 and Risen2 is best game for me.
especially for Gothic3, it's quest design is far much better than NV which is one of best RPG for me.
and that's why Risen3's mainquest wasn't good for me.

At least, I don't use Nazi, dictators or slaughters to make nickname.
and G3 and R2 are not trash, they are underrated games.
if they are not underrated or left unfinished, they are know as great RPG earlier.
it is Gothic 1,2 that shackled PB not to make newer and better games.

Lol man you are delusional , Gothic 2 NotR is perhaps the best game they ever made in the whole series. Sure Gothic 3 is just brilliant too , but it lacks the personality of G2 and even worse , the learning curve on G3 is quite ... lean. Like some guy said on a forum , try going as pure mage in G2 NotR and then talk about challenging/satisfying games. I didn't really care much for Risen 2 and 3 as they were really into that pirate stuff and voodoo and muskets , really set me off. I much prefer a medieval setting to be honest.
