illumnar is gone - my game is broken

im a bandit in chapter 4, i have to get a mage to use the rune on the magic barriers. theyre telling me to talk to illumnar, but illumnar is GONE. COMPLETELY GONE. i cant complete that quest nor the quest to search for all the masters. ever since the lizards attacked the monestary he's been gone

what the ♥♥♥♥ do i do? the last save before the monestary is like 12 hours prior... just because im a bandit my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game is broken?

If I remember correctly, after giving you the quest to look for the other masters, he moves to the great hall of the monastery, where the flame is. Try looking in there.

No, it turns out he is actually gone from my game. After hours of digging I found out my game officially considers Illumar a dead character even though he's a story NPC that is unkillable. After the lizard attack at the monastary is triggered, illumar and his students all died.

I went into console commands and did the "goto" on him, it put me in a void where illumar is, its where the game dumps dead body models because it thinks he's supposed to be dead. Without talking to him I wouldnt be able to progress in the game, so the lizard attack legit killed Illumar in my game. I'm fine now though. Check out the video to see what I'm talking about.

That's a bizarre bug. Never heard of it before. Good that you were able to figure it out and work around it.

Also, are you sure your last save game was 12 hours old? The game autosaves much more frequently than that.

Well that includes my autosave because I had spent so long looking for illumar whilist thinking I was just doing something wrong. The earliest file i had before that was around 1/2 through ch. 2 so I'm glad they offered dev commands, that woulda sucked.

I think I know why Illumar died in the attack. The attack begins RIGHT when you and Mendoza use the crystal discs to open the door and enter the volcano. So while you and and all the seasoned members of the Order are messing around in there, the monastery is under attack, and the game doesn't tell you this. You need to discover it on your own, and the only way to do that is to actually go back to the monastery before Illumar dies.
