also, don't bother leveling more than one weapon, choose one and stick with it, but if it's melee, have a crossbow for ranged stuff and activating switches. a bow works too, but crossbows work off strength, unlike bows, which use dexterity, so level either but not both.
and get alchemy at some point and save permanent stat increase items until then (alchemy 3), they're more effective in potion form and aren't wasted on points you could get from trainers, so don't drink them until you reach 100 str or dex. you can eat stuff that increases stats you don't want to put points into (you can only make 20 perm potions and that's only if you find all 20 hero's crowns) and permanent health upgrades, like druid's hemlock.
Doing the bandit camp first is really a good choice, you even could level one of your weapons to 10 there and afterwards join the order. In fact there are two orders, the inquisition and the mages. Joining the mages requires doing the order quests in harbour town. Mages can use all magic, including runes. Runes are like scrolls, besides the fact that they aren´t consumed when used.
that must've been fun. can't wait to get my first armor, just hit lvl9 and found a protective ring, about to enter harbor town, not gonna pay 500 to hawkins. I think the piranha bytes games are supposed to be about choices and sticking to said choices (well, rpgs in general, I guess, but I also prefer experiencing as much as possible in one playthrough), so joining both is not an intended thing here anyway.
