Trading for gold?

Is there a way to trade for gold, instead of bartering for items? I can't seem to find any merchants with gold in their inventory, nor anyway to exchange my gold for other items in the trading screen. All I am able to do is barter items. Am I missing something?

Unlike the Gothic games, in Risen you can just sell stuff without having to balance the stuff you're selling against goods or currency from the merchant npc. The merchant npcs have unlimited gold, too, and they all pay the same price for goods. So the trading system is simplyfied compared to the Gothic games.

As he said, the npc have unlimited gold so just find the nearest trader and start selling all your junk for that sweet sweet gold. Although I don't know if you can improve trading for better prices

to my memory there's a stat that lowers prices but not raises the prices of what you sell.
