Is it too late to become a mage?
I was trying to go to the Harbor Town and I was knocked out by the Order. However, I am not sure if I would be able to escape as they were chasing me on my way. Is there any way to become a mage?

Should still be possible. The Mages are not actually members of the Inquisition, they're just working very closely with them. If I recall correctly, once you're inside the Volcano Keep, it's pretty much up to you which of the two factions you join.

Thanks a lot! I am a bit relieved now :) Let's see how it goes then.

No, it doesn't work like this. If you want to become a mage you have to first do the missions in Harbour Town for the Inquisition, then get a letter of recommendation and then go to the monastery. The guy at the gate will read the letter and will give you the choice to become either a mage or a warrior of the order. If the Inquisition kicks your ass and you end up in the monastery by force you can only become a warrior of the order, which is the middle ground between the mage class and the pure warrior class.

You are right. Unfortunately I am a warrior of the order now. I did not notice that until checking top-left corner of my character tab. That's the reason I cannot use and runes I presume.

♥♥♥♥... so i'm a warrior not a mage, damn i wish i knew that before, i got captured by the inquisition, i'm using magic all the time so i think that's better than nothing lol, the difference is that mages can use seals, or there is something else?

Don't worry about it. You are actually better off being a warrior than a mage. The only difference between them is that warriors cannot use rune magic, but runes are pretty much useless anyway. Anything that you can do with a rune, you can do with a spell scroll, and warriors do have the ability to create spell scrolls. Warriors can also use combat crystals, and they get better armor, so you really are not missing much.

Yup. The mage path is unfortunately pretty weak in this game, so as a Warrior of the Order you're not missing much. Mages have literally one offensive rune spell, Inferno, which you get near the endgame (and unlike Rain of Fire from G1/G2 it is not very good) and they generally have to use Crystal magic anyway, which Warriors learn with no restrictions.
