Event Update: Tier 7 Events Debut with Carnival of Sorrows, 2021 Edition!

The seventh edition of the Carnival of Sorrows event is now live, and adds a new Crusader to its attractions! She's fabulous, fashionable, and here to tell you that capes are so last season, but wings are always in.

Erabelle, Tisseuse de Nuit is a Support Crusader. When you want to add her to your formation, you can find her in slot 39.

The event ends at Noon Pacific Time (UTC-7) on Tuesday, October 26th, 2021.

Oof, already time for a new event tier again. Where does the time go? Anyway...

I'm at 702.615T idols as I get started on this event. All the characters from the previous tiers are full epic+, of course.

Is Carnival Troops bugged for anyone else? Does it require all 9 spots to be filled with all 9 event crusaders? Does it need every level cleared (meaning Sprint breaks it)?

If that's the case it's a bit deceptive, since a good geared Mogra could probably solo up to 5K...


Edit: Is the random level 7 rune reward also bugged? I got a level 7 fire rune as reward, and it isn't showing up in my rune menu.

Worked with Sprint for me, i think i used all event Crusaders, no clue if needet.
I get my Rune after a Game restart

@Zem, try reloading the game client. I had the same problem and my rune showed up after doing this. Fortunately this fixes lots of the bugs in this game, sad but true.

As for Carnival Troops, I haven't tried that. It was bugged when I did the Recruit mission, so it shows as 650 levels completed for me. Sprint better not prevent us from completing it, and Pampersbomber says we're fine with it, so that's good.

What I don't understand is, do we have the rush to remove the Bush Whacker from the formation in area 1 so that he doesn't defeat it for us?

Alternately, if the Bush Whacker is on a mission, then he won't be in the formation to start, so maybe do that too.

I wouldn't be surprised if several crusaders could solo 5,000 with all the talents maxed and a bunch of Magical Training levels. Area 5,000 needs about e970 and 25,000 crusader levels is about e600, then add some from Legendary Hoards and Runic Hoards and you're nearly to e1000.

After a restart or two, my rune did show up, so if it doesn't show up for other people, a relaunch is recommended.

Burnt a few warps to get enough tickets to start a new freeplay run, and progress is now being counted. It feels very likely that you need a full formation with every current event crusader (or at least need to start from area 1 or 2 with only event crusaders) for this task to count, unsure if you do need to rush and remove slot 1 before clearing area 1, but better safe than sorry.

It also seems very likely that if you slip, or hit the "spend all money on levels" button before filling it up with the eventers, it might break your progress and you'll need to start a new freeplay.


TL;DR relaunch a few times if you don't get your reward rune, remove slot 1 ASAP and only fill the formation with the right event crusaders, be careful with the all levels button.

What are some good suggestions for Carnival of Evil, I'm kind of stuck there at the moment at around 800 and it's pretty much outside of what I normally go for with the limits of the formation there.

Hmm, I cleared Carnival of Attraction just fine. I've just barely cleared Carnival of Sushi with DPS buffs needed to push me through the last 20 or so areas. Makes me wonder how well Carnival of Magic (or Carnival of Evil after that) will go for me.

Huh, over e900? In that case, the 10k Carnivals and Carnival Troops achievements might both be beyond me at this time... Unless I can make time to push through all the Ghostbeard's Greed tier 4 objectives this week.

The highest levels I can get on a character are something closer to 15k or 16k though, not 25k. That part might make those achievements be quite a stretch for me, regardless of whether my number cap is e900 or e1100.

My comment about area 5,000 was related to the achievement: Carnival Troops and so it is in the context of a Free Play run. You don't have to solo it, but Zem mentioned soloing it with Mogra, so I thought that I'd share some thoughts about soloing it.

FWIW, in the tier 5 regular objectives and I expect the event objectives above tier 5, getting beyond area 4,000 is not possible with the current e2300 DPS cap, Oona can get you some areas beyond 4,000 but still no where near 5,000.

As for the event objectives, they seemed easy enough. Carnival of Evil was the "hardest" given that it seemed like it had to be Mogra and three other crusaders. The speed was quite good for Carnival of Magic, so I went to area 2,350 for the extra 30k common crafting materials, but this required more than e2000, which seemed harder than even the regular tier 5 objectives. Area 2,500 might be about the best we can do with Tier 7 event objectives, until we get a higher DPS cap.

The "Carnival Troop" achievement is quite clumsy. At no time should any crusader other than the carnival be on the field. Therefore, Bushwacker and Nate must be "locked" by sending them on missions. It is also important to restart the game before you tackle the achievment.

So to get Carnival Troops achievement you need to do an EFP run with only event saders, then reset without putting a seat 20 on the field so have Nate/seat 20 on mission, or fill the formation with all 9 event saders - (BW on mission, TM on Mindy, and at least 1 on the field when you reset) you can reset at anytime on that run, then you restart before you start a new EFP, let the TM's kill the mobs and get Mindy in the formation before you clear area 1. Then just keep going, you can add in the other event saders as you go. You'll know if it's working if the counter starts going up.

Small bug in Carnival of Evil, I think. The green checkmark didn't appear until the formation reached 902, so not just completing 900, or 901, but actually after changing areas to 902. If I wasn't waiting to take a screenshot, I'm sure I would've reflexively hit reset while it was still on 901.

If you find yourself missing dps in Carnival Troops, you can go back to a previously beaten zone and farm some Electric Feeling stacks with a Storm Rider character.
Just remember to put your formation back to only Carnival characters before resuming clearing new zones.
