Easiest way to calculate dps buffs
was wondering what the easiest way may be to calculate the total damage bonus a crusader might add. currently thinking it is just to count the number of digits of all the relevant buffs they provide. not certain though

In general, most of it tends to be multiplicative. So if for example a particular character has one buff that provides a 30% boost for the whole formation and another buff that provides a 20% boost for the whole formation, the overall result should be 1.3 x 1.2 = 1.56 times as much DPS for the whole formation. (In other words, an overall boost of 56%.)

A possible exception would be if a buff's strength is based on the presence of certain tags in the formation. Like if it says something like "10% for each Leprechaun" and you have 2 Leprechauns (if the character providing the buff has that tag as well they'll usually include themselves in the count) then that's a 10 + 10 = 20% buff. That 20% can then be applied multiplicatively with other buffs, like in the previous paragraph.

Similarly, in the current state of the game (since the introduction of legendary gear) there are several of those tag counting type of buffs scattered throughout all of the characters you can use, and so choosing to include any particular character may tweak the values of the buffs being provided by other characters. Maybe you're adding a robot and you've already got two characters already in the formation who have buffs that count robots, so both of them will start providing stronger buffs than they were before. This makes generalizations about the benefit of any one character far less straightforward, because now it's not just their own buffs that you'd have to account for.
