Reset when you start seeing hp bars, don't try to push on, that's wasting time you could already spend on the next free play.
There's probably more I'm not thinking of right now. (And much later there's bonus idols when you've done certain higher tier objectives.)
When you can reach the respective areas in an event free play to unlock talents, and higher tier talents, there are some that help with dps or outright reducing the number of levels needed per idol gained.
You do know to not forget to level all crusaders (the ones at the front of the bench, not others sharing it) before reset, right?
"All single level", do you mean tier 1?
As long as Bonus Idols are not involved i would recommend Event freeplays. Usually the event freeplays are "easier to get further"so more idols per freeplay.
My apologies, i read it wrong then.
No worries. :)
More idols per area, which means more idols per time spent on it, the further down the normal campaigns you go.
Event free play is best though, as mentioned.
The later free plays are also harder. They'll give you more gold for leveling your crusaders, which means more idols, but you also will not be able to go as deep for say Deep Idol Scavanger. It starts to come down to a matter of preference.
And of course, if you can unlock WW bonus idols, do that always.
