There might be something else, but after you use the Iron Disk, go back to the Hills and head to the marsh shore; there's a crucified Wicker Man there!! I looked in the Stats and it is secret 7!!!
@josiah1221: there's programs for that very purpose. I used ILSpy and opened the CSharp_Assambly.dll to find my clues.
...
["ACH13_COFFIN_PAPER_1",true], <-- picking up the final notes in Ep7
["ACH13_COFFIN_PAPER_2",true],
["ACH13_COFFIN_PAPER_3",true],
["EP7_FINISHED",true], <-- finishing Ep7 regularly
["CHRISTOPHER_LEE_TRIBUTE",true], <-- repeating Ep7 for achievements
["SECRET_08",true], <-- don't know when or how
["WICKER_02",true], <-- inspecting the burning wickers I hadnt seen the first time
["WICKER_04",true],
["ACH5_02",true], <-- getting the missed achievements replaying
...
maybe it is somehow related the wicker men as well
Only 01 and 10 left for me, gonna go look for 01 now
Just got that somehow... Let's recap what I did:
I continued my game from the point where I inspected the hill hole 4 times (SECRET_06; see my confirmation above)...
From there I walked through the screens trying to look at every hotspot several times in hope to find something unusual.
The carved stone next to the hole, the jagged rocks in the screen before, the broken fence, then I went to Donnán's mansion, looking at statues, into the backyard, bicycle and chain, swing, mill wheel, Kieran's Playroom door... nothing interesting really.
THEN I went back to the village and straight to the graveyard. Here I inspected the Christopher Lee tombstone and then the CRYPT, where I looked inside and listened (or better: read) to the voice from inside. Then I looked inside the crypt again and again.
Since the figure in the crypt and his mumbling seemed mysteriously to me, I now checked the stats.json and THERE IT IS: SECRET_08, true
So could someone check, if it is about looking into the crypt? Maybe without clicking away the figure's monologue and the close-up - just wait till it's closed automatically? Maybe it's looking inside again after the monologue? Maybe looking inside a third time?
I confirm, too. Did as you both told (insert iron disc into mural), and there it is: Crucified wickerman at the lake in the hills and SECRET_07
I also got SECRET_08! The Christopher Lee tribute grave is it!!! The reason I can confirm this is because through the 4 or 5 playthroughs of this episode (while I was searching for these secrets). I was never able to click on the first grave (no magnifying glass). For what ever reason it finally allowed me to click on it in my last playthrough (magnifying glass). Not sure if this is the trigger or just part of it but I had the iron disc and was revisiting all locations before opening the passage. Since I had not been able to click on the grave in previous playthroughs I immediately checked my STATS.json file before clicking on it, no SECRET_08. Then I clicked on the grave and immediately checked the STATS.json file again and sure enough there was SECRET_08!
This has been in my STATS.json file ever since I first completed the episode. ["EP7_FINISHED",true],["CHRISTOPHER_LEE_TRIBUTE",true]
Therefore, I think once you complete the episode and then restart the episode again the ability to click on the grave and get the secret is triggered. But now I'm puzzled as to why I haven't been able to click on the grave up until the last playthrough?! Either a glitch/bug or there are more steps involved?!
This doesn't sound quite right to me, sorry. (No offense!)
I have seen Christopher Lee's grave in my first playthrough and had the entry '"CHRISTOPHER_LEE_TRIBUTE", true' since I stumbled across this secrets issue, but no SECRET_08.
That's one thing.. The other oddity is that CHRISTOPHER_LEE_TRIBUTE and SECRET_08 are per se two different entries in stats.json... If it is the same, why do you need two entries? A single one would have done the same job...
Sorry, as long as this is not confirmed by someone who acts and checks the stats really carefully, I'm not convinced yet. Although I have to admit I examined the grave right before I looked inside the crypt and checked stats.json tonight... so yeah, it was on my way, the possibility is given.
P.S.: The iron disc has nothing to do with secret08. When I got the secret somehow tonight, I didn't have the disc yet
So it seems to me that it's actually just that easy. Though I would like someone who never had SECRET_08 to try it the way i did and confirm the method.
The entry CHRISTOPHER_LEE_TRIBUTE might be for watching the credits until his name appears. at least that constant comes up in the file for the credit sequence.
Edit: stumbled over a detail with SECRET_07: At the start of the episode you need to tell Lord Donnan that you are religious. If you don't the crucified wicker won't appear. just tested it speeding through Ep7. *Opening post edited*
Another confirmation wouldn't hurt though 😊
Good Job so far, lads! Only Two more to go!
Wow, it never came to my mind you needed to say you were religious to Lord Donnan. No wonder I didn't get the secret before, I ALWAYS said I wasn't.
And it's kinda creepy as a lore detail... Wicker Men are supposed to be sacrifices to the gods, so the people in the island are maybe dropping hints of Wakefield's fate if he continues on his path
So what are the conditions? there's very little you can do before taking the mask. I went back and forth between all locations, talked to everyone, used every item on everyone and everything...
I assume you have to find out what Konhe, Alexandre and Skidd were doing so you get a vision of it. But i'm honestly out of ideas.
Do you think it might be linked with the safe achievement? Maybe opening it without help? Although for the few I can remember, I did use the hint, so probably not...
1) Going from the street to the hideout as quick as possible (memorizing the numbers to open the safe fast, not taking anything on the way).
2) Same as 1), but checking on the nun on the way.
3) Same as 2), but additionally checking on her before entering the hideout.
4) Taking the medal and talking to the military guy before opening the vault.
5) Same as 4) but additionally checking on Ms. Konhe.
6) Same as 5) but additionally checking on the patient in the mirror room.
7) Did all above but waiting more than 2 min in every place.
8) I also tried checking the hideout after every important milestone on the episode, such as showing mask to Ms. Konhe, finding the eye, giving the eye to the guy, entering the Crismon Nest and waking up Captain Skidd. After you talk to him, I couldn't find a way to return to the hideout.
I really don't know what other combination there might be...
I've tested trying to enable secret 01 (or what we're guessing it is) but I'm a little stuck. Learning about Captain Skidd through showing the soldier the medal before entering the room isn't just enough, but there's no other thing that can tell you about Skidd or Kohne's connection to Du Pré before getting the mask. Both times I tested this, just running through the game with that goal in mind and then playing similarly to my first playthrough. Each time I opened the safe AFTER the soldier's story, so maybe that has to do something with it?
Also, I can confirm that the Christopher Lee Tribute is Secret 8, but you can't actually trigger it on your first playthrough. My first playthrough, the gravestone in question wasn't an object of interest, but as soon as I finished the chapter and came back it was just as simple as running basically straight there. I checked the files, too, and ["CHRISTOPHER_LEE_TRIBUTE",true] only wrote after chapter 7's completion marker, so I think that trigger is what you need in order to actually look at the gravestone!
EDIT: I know for certain that the trigger came after the completion not just because the game's file wrote it that way, but also because basically after every progressive event I returned to the graveyard to try and get the gravestone, to no avail.
With that I understand too why I couldn't remember seeing this grave on my first playthrough. I'm usually very careful clicking on everything :P
