Is performance really this bad?
Getting 40-60 fps in the start area just turning the camera and when a rush attack starts it drops to the mid 20s. What kind of performance are ye getting?

specs, gtx 980, i7 5820k 4ghz, 16gb ram

Heyyo, yeah this game has some graphical parts that aren't optimized properly for PC sadly. It definitely doesn't run as good as Samurai Warriors 4-II...

Here's what I run to get 1920x1080 @ 60fps locked.

Just to give comparison, here's my custom settings vs the game's High preset in a similar spot... and I am having a hard time actually seeing graphical differences tbh...

Heyyo,

Hmm I don't see an option for rush mode yet... is it something unlocked? I have story mode and free mode currently...

its the mode you go into by pressing rt in battle where there are like 200 on screen characters

All you have to do to get a decent performance is to reduce the number of soldiers on screen. Change graphic settings to manual, reduce muber of soldiers and draw distance to "medium". Runs perfectly now for me (NVIDIA 780). Some slowdowns in the rush attacks though.

Heyyo,

Oh derp! Lol sorry now I know what you mean... when doing that Mazban rush mode? The game forcibly locks 30fps regardless of settings. Same with cutscenes... so that could have been a framerate cap bug on rush mode unless it was due to the animations being programmed specifically for 30fps... :\

So yeah, the game does support 60fps most of the time, but it still drops down to 30fps a lot.

Tbh? Now I'm testing low preset with textures on medium and I'm having a bit of a hard time discerning serious graphical differences with high except the textures and shadow quality settings! I'm curious as to how much graphical difference this game even has on high, medium low... hmm... anyone know good spots that we could attempt to check that could be reproduced on different run throughs?

For example, even on high settings for characters? I notice a lot of troop pop-in... it shouldn't be a loading delay as I have the game on my SanDisk Ultra II 960GB SSD...

The performance on the PC port isn't as good as other games by this developer, but damn did they nail the storyline and campaign missions thus far in my first playthrough... super impressed with how well it mimics the anime. :)

I've bought a ASUS gaming laptop with a nvidia gtx 970 M 3gb I've no problem in many games, I've no problem in non-anime games like playing DMC4:SE HD with maxed graphics at 60 fps's and I've no problem in anime games like in the last Naruto game(it works perfectly). I only have problems with this game, according to what I'm reading here it is an excellent one but the problem is they haven't assisted computer players :/ hope they give us some love soon x)
nevermind, my problem was that the game was being runned not in the Nvidia Graphic Card, now it's much better.

Heyyo, ah hmm so nVidia might not have released drivers with a game specific profile to this game or is improperly set up? Good catch though and glad you got it sorted out... But yeah, this is probably the most problematic Koei Tecmo game which is too bad since Samurai Warriors 4-II is a masterpiece of the mousu game style
