this game would be better if it wasn't a rougelike
the fun slick gameplay of Flinthookis held back by it's rng heavy aspects and sloppy ship design. this game would be infenitly more fun with a set of handcrafted levels with collectabiles hidden throughout and stable progression. as is it's just a painful reminder of what could have been

A Steamworld Dig-esque game with these mechanics (and obviously no digging) would be a great follow-up to Flinthook
Sorry for necroing this (well it´s still one of the top threads, so not much of a necro but still) but I have to say I agree 100%.I installed the game today and I´ve owned it since who knows whem or how, and I was having a good time, but I was very confused, why do boats reset to the minimun level when I lose a stage?

Then out of curiosity I enter the forums and read it´s a rogelike, I though I was missing something but no, stupid roguelike. I don´t really know who or when this trend became something popular, but I hate it more than any other stupid videogame ever. Constantly reseting when the main mechanic can kill you throwing you into stuff?

Either remove roguelike stupidity or design the game better, because 99% of the deaths I achieved had to do with stupid RNG or with badly designs room thrown at you on your first day playing that already requiere mastery of the hook mech.
