Thank you <3 I just finished buying it :3
Im playing tomorrow though, 2AM here :S
Let me explain why people don't like hatred as much
postal has witty satire, and dark humour, even the civilians are comical in the way they overemphasis... "I can't feel my legs"... Earlier some civi walked round corner to me and said 'What's going on?' as I then proceed to shoot him in the face!
In both Postal and Postal 2, and even the films.. There is this whole self-awareness thing going on, in the games he practicaly KNOWS he is a video game character, hell in postal 2 he even meets what seems to be his dad, the postal dude from the first game!
The postal games have incredible wit, great sense of humour and the best part is, the games are totally self-aware
Now lets look at hatred
Same isometric gameplay based on killing civi's, but its not witty, or satire, or self-aware
It achieves to do one thing only.. And that's be edgy.
That said, the physics in Hatred is pretty damn great, and the whole black and white thing is acctually really good
Thing is not everything is in black and white, the blood is red IIRC, and things like the police sirens are in colour.. This gives a really great contrast to the game and it looks very pretty
Also in terms of gameplay alone, postal wins in that regard too imo, hatred feels alot more dull in comparison but eh to each their own
Back when I played the game, there were no color mods.
Pardon me, but plain black & white is pure garbage.
ah but that's just one more reason why Postal is great
In postal redux, we have tons of different colours, including a "just like that other game" effect/colour
and you get to shoot ostritches, I mean cmon
Well acctually I don't really see how that's a counter-arguement to me saying it has very well done dark humour and satire
It was still controversial for its time back in the day, sure, but it wasn't trying to create shock value just for the sake of it, the game is acctually very intelligently made, both postal games are, when you look at the writing and the zany stuff that happens in the game
hatred is acctually very very different from postal dispite people comparing them, postal is a far cry from being edgy as much as it is just plain old simple SATIRE
I don't know, the original Postal before Special Delivery seemed to be almost nothing but shock value. Outside of it, it's just go here, kill this many people.
That's where the idea for Hatred came from.
Also, the loading screens. Damn, those loading screens. There was a thread last year where a kid in his late teens was talkin about how he was getting nightmares from them, and seeing them in real life. While it does mean Postal is better than Hatred, don't you think they're ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ spooky?
The suicide button also plays an animation, instead of showing a heart attack thing! :D
Problem is they seemed to have put all of their effort into a few levels, the rest seem to be linear like the sewer level or just plain barren. Could have been an amazing game if they made more levels that seemed more down to earth like the initial town level. Maybe a massive shopping center, a movie theatre, stuff like that.
