"Hold both pads to start." Can't start... [Resolved]
I saw some other threads talking about being unable to start the game and they referenced it being blocked by BitDefender. I didn't have that installed but I had Avast which I've since uninstalled entirely but it still doesn't work.

I have no indication that my touch controllers are working in Budget Cuts however the Oculus home buttons work on it and my controllers work fine within that virtual space.

Anyone else seen this issue? Advice for a noob?

UPDATE: Opted out of SteamVR openvr-inputemulator-temporary beta and reinstalled game to fix it.

I have the same issue. Game worked fine at first launch then it won't start at all due to the pads issue. Help!

I am only a tiny bit relieved to know I am not alone.. Though now that just means we're both stuck. :steamfacepalm:
I have the same issue. I can't start the game. I have bitdefender. Do I need to turn it off?

Bitdefender apparently blocks the game and needs an exception set up for it. I saw a post on it but can't for the life of me find it again, and never used Bitdefender, but will check in again if I can find it!

So an update regarding my case;
I just opted out of the SteamVR openvr-inputemulator-temporary beta and then re-installed Budget Cuts and now it is working for me.

Opting out of the beta didn't fix it for me right away until after I uninstalled and installed the game again so I am not sure if I just needed to reinstall or not.

Best of luck, boys and gals :special:.
I figured it out (at least in my case). Bitdefender blocks budget cuts.exe. Just go to your BitDefender notifications, click on "blocked application", then click on "Allowed" and restart. That did it for me.
