Hello North Pole! A big new demo build is live. Thanks to everyone who played the first version. You showed us where the village felt slow, where it was confusing and where it broke, and most of this update comes from that.

A VILLAGE THAT LOOKS LIKE WHAT YOU BOUGHT

- Every premium workshop has its own building. Toysmith Lodge, Sugar Hearth Hut (with turning windmill sails), Glimmer Forge, Ginger Guild Hall and Arcane Atelier used to borrow the starter houses. Now you can tell them apart at a glance.

- 30 workshops in total, so every premium type can now reach its second ownership bonus.

- The first workshops are much cheaper (400 / 1,500 / 2,500 cookies), so you build your first one in year 3 instead of hardly ever.

- Smarter elves. Carriers no longer jam at doors or freeze holding a gift, so a full village delivers a lot more. Each elf now also walks at its own pace.

- Deliveries keep going while you play a minigame. Before, the carriers stopped and your gifts just piled up.

MINIGAMES

- Every run ends with a finale: your score counting up, stars stamping in, confetti, and a "New best!" when you earn it.

- Play with the mouse. Naughty or Nice, Cookie Bake, Gift Wrap Rush and Reindeer Rhythm can all be played by clicking now, not just with the keyboard or a gamepad.

- Reindeer Rhythm has a real beat. Press in time with the metronome: Perfect scores 2, Good scores 1.

- Harder targets, and no more mashing. The keypress games were too easy to 3-star, and pressing randomly paid off. Wrong presses now cost a point.

- Gift Wrap Rush shows the key letter on each gift, so you don't have to tell red from green.

- Each workshop's minigame button can be played once per workshop per year. The Minigames button on the right has no limit.

PROGRESSION

- The skill tree now has 40 skills in 9 branches, and the panel lists branches on the left with the skills on the right. Two branches are new:

- Moonlight Shift lets you stay away longer and still collect your offline gifts (up to 10 hours).

- Master Builder makes every building and upgrade cheaper.

- Delivery routes now have their own board. Open Routes on the right side of the screen to pick safe cookies, extra Spirit or a big gamble. Each route shows exactly what it can pay.

- A guaranteed first Legacy Star at 15K lifetime gifts, so you can retire during the demo.

CLEARER SCREENS

- Popups now dim the village, and nothing draws on top of an open panel.

- The gifts-per-second counter shows how many gifts actually reach the sleigh, and tells you how to fix it when your carriers can't keep up.

- The year-end screen explains your payout: route, luck roll and events.

- Minigame results list everything you earned.

- Build cards always show the real price, and the workshop window is titled with the workshop's name.

- Buttons appear as they become useful, so your first year isn't a wall of buttons.

- The camera stops panning at the screen edge while a popup is open or the game is in the background.

LANGUAGES

German, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese now cover nearly the whole game, including all the children's letters and Santa's replies, the gift names and the Legacy tree. If you spot an awkward line in your language, please tell us. We want these to read naturally.

FIXES

- A year that ran out while you were in a minigame was skipped, along with its delivery. It now goes to the year-end screen as it should.

- The clock kept running behind the main menu after Save & Quit. It doesn't anymore.

- Elves no longer get new names (and traits) every time the village loads.

- Better performance with a full village (window lights no longer cast shadows).

- Many small text and layout fixes.

HELP US OUT

Ran into a bug? Settings now has a Play data button that opens a small local log of your playthrough. Attach it to your post in the discussions and it helps a lot. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you send it.

THE BIG WINTER UPDATE

Nine months of work, and by far the biggest update Santa's Legacy has ever had. The village has a voice, the elves have personalities, and where you put a workshop finally matters as much as whether you built it.

Here's everything that's new.

🔊 THE NORTH POLE HAS A VOICE

The single biggest change: the game is no longer silent.

• 94 sound effects across every click, build, delivery and menu

• 205 recorded elf voice lines — your elves chatter while they work

• Music that changes with where you are, and crossfades between tracks

• Separate volume sliders for music, effects and elf voices, because 205 voice lines is a lot of elf

🎅 A PROPER LOADING SCREEN

Every transition now passes through a hand-built 3D North Pole scene — Santa, the reindeer team, elves walking their routes, snow coming down — with a progress bar and rotating tips. No more black screens.

🧝 YOUR ELVES ARE INDIVIDUALS NOW

Every elf has a personality that affects how they work:

• Diligent elves craft faster but haul less

• Swift elves haul more but craft slower

• Steady elves are the reliable middle

A workshop's output is now the sum of who's actually working in it, not just how many bodies you crammed inside. Splitting your elves between crafting and hauling is a real decision for the first time — and the inspect panel shows you every elf's trait so you can make it.

🏘️ WHERE YOU BUILD MATTERS

Workshops sit on a village grid, and neighbouring buildings boost each other. A well-planned village out-produces a sprawling one. Rearranging is now a legitimate strategy.

⏰ REASONS TO COME BACK

• Elf errands — send elves out for 1, 4 or 8 hours. Longer trips pay better, so choosing one is choosing when to return. Nothing expires, and you're never punished for being late.

• Christmas Orders — timed contracts with real rewards

• Daily bonus with a streak that builds the more you visit

• 38 milestones, each one permanently raising your production a little

🛷 FOUR DELIVERY ROUTES

Pick your run on Christmas night — the safe village loop, the richer mountain route, the scenic frozen coast, or an all-nighter around the world with a huge ceiling and wild variance.

⭐ RETIRE, AND START AGAIN STRONGER

• Retire a run to earn Legacy Stars and spend them on 22 permanent upgrades across six branches — these never reset

• 3 challenge runs for players who want it harder: Silent Night (no minigames), Short Winter (every year half as long) and Deep Frost (production halved, Spirit doubled) — each pays out extra Stars

• Challenges are locked in when you retire, so there's no backing out halfway

🌲 SKILLS, LEVELS AND PERKS

• The skill panel is rebuilt as a proper tree — 22 skills across 7 branches, with every prerequisite visible at a glance

• Every 5th level banks a perk pick: production, logistics, cookies, spirit or fortune

🎮 SEVEN MINIGAMES, RESTYLED

All seven have been reworked to match the game's art direction, and they now scale with your progress — later years are genuinely faster and tighter. They're drawn from a shuffle bag, so you'll see all seven before any repeats.

🌍 NOW IN SIX LANGUAGES

English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese. Brazilian Portuguese is a real translation, not a copy of the European one.

🎮 FULL GAMEPAD SUPPORT

Play the whole game on a controller — camera, cursor and menus all work without touching the mouse.

📸 CHRISTMAS CARDS

Capture a shareable summary of your year framed over your actual village. Post your best one.

🔧 FIXES AND TECHNICAL WORK

• Fixed: the game was silently disabling all its visual effects in the built version — the loading and year-end screens were missing their lighting and colour work entirely

• Saves are now crash-safe — a save can never be left half-written, and a corrupted file recovers from a backup automatically

• Multiple save slots, listed by when you last played them

• Fixed two crashes when leaving the skill screen

• Steam achievements and leaderboards wired up

ABOUT THE DEMO

The demo covers six full years at the North Pole. Everything listed above is in it — nothing is locked behind a disabled button. Your progress is kept when the demo ends.
