Is there a map?
I'm lost... somwhere, is there a in-game map? I've got no instructions so I don't really know what I'm doing other than the control mappings. Speaking of which Space bar for "open vision" dosen't do anything and neither does Next and Previous... next and previous of what exactly?

EDIT

Also I appear to be collecting things but can't find a button that shows me my inventory. I can't remember what I've picked up now.

And there's a couple of other things. Somtimes I get a prompt to touch something (bodies mostly I think) but nothing happens when I do and some areas or objects I inspect, where some words fly around the screen, I'm not sure if I'm supposed to find something here or do something.

This game says it does not hold your hand at the start, and I like that - I hate dumbed down games that flash waypoints in your face, but there is such a thing as not holding your hand to an extreme level, and this game is it. I have no idea what's going on or what I'm doing.

No, there's no ingame map. The areas are pretty linear though, you can wander around but in the end you'll have to find your way from one area to the next. You can follow the trails or railroad tracks to do that. As for the controls, Space Bar, Q, and E are context sensitive, you'll be given on-screen prompts when they can be used. There's also no inventory screen but it shouldn't matter, you'll only be picking up a few items needed to complete puzzles in an area (with one possible exception) and you'll put them back where they belong in the process.

As for touching things, the prompt should say to hold down the left mouse button, you have to do that in order to see the full vision. In terms of the bodies, you're trying to piece together how they died which then leads to a complete vision of that event.

Finally, when you're inspecting something and words are flying around your screen, like "crank?" or "rock?" you're supposed to look around with your mouse and make all the words get closer together until they finally merge into one and then you can hold down the left mouse button to see a vision of that object and its surroundings as well as now know the direction you need to go to find it.

Oh boy, looks like I've been playing this all wrong! I had no idea I had to do what with the floating words I just kept thinking what the hell is this? I left the game lost underground in some mine or something. May as well start again from the begning of all the things I've missed!

On the subject of that mine, can you die in this game? There's an "amnesia dark dececent" moment that happened a few times and I had to hide. Not sure what happens if I'm seen.

I believe there's only one place in the game where you can die and yeah it's deep in that mine past a warning sign. That's actually a confined area for an optional puzzle but it has a pretty cool payoff. If you're spotted and don't run or hide you'll encounter the one true jumpscare in the game and be sent back to your last save which should be the beginning of that area.

Thank You Talon for the hints. The "crank?" part puzzled me, but I had found it on my own.

I only started this game a few hours ago and I am currently trying to figure out the "House of Confusion", it appears that I am supposed to "assemble" the house in the correct configuration by picking the correct room for each doorway? I got to the last one and picked the wrong room, [sigh], back to the begining.

Again, tyvm.

I went to the house opposite and roughly sketched out on paper the layout of each room then just picked the right room in the Carter house to match.

Right. I started a new game and now been able to figure our the train puzzle at the start but I'm having trouble with the chronology of events. Clearly I got the order wrong but now I can't reset it and try again. Just this:

Also the prompts to tag them don't always appear depending on where I'm standing. It seems bugged.

I don't think it is bugged, though it seems there are "tripwire" type trigger zones for things to appear.

Side note: There is a small pylon in the forest area to your left before getting to the train station, entering the right sequence on the four buttons will start an event. A man in a space suit appears, ... follow him to the end, then jump into the light.

It's not bugged, this is where you use Q and E to change the number displayed so you can put the moments into the proper order of occurance to recreate what happened.

Forum seems broken right now, having to reply outside of the usual way. Okay so I've worked out what next and previous are for for those chronolgy things but the prompts are still bugged, they either prompt or don't prompt, like if I stand too close they don't appear, I have to sort of stand back a bit and wraggle the mouse. I wonder if it has anything to do with increasing the FoV to 100?

That's just how the prompts are. They're very touchy about where your mouse has to be aimed to trigger them. You'll know you have it right when the color changes from white to orange.

Once you put a sequence together, do you press the spacebar to view them?
I have finished each corpse's visions, if you have the wrong order, it will play the first part of the vision then reset, you have to go back and "touch" the corpse again to get the ghosts to reappear, ... there should be 5 scenes for each corpse.
[EDIT] The last corpse has only 4 scenes to put into chronological order.
