Hearts

I'm playing endless right now and I've come pretty far. Now I need to scoop up the maximum number of points before the game is over and for that I need to know exactly when I will lose. Do I lose when I lose my last heart, or am I still alive then and only lose when I can't clear a column and don't have a heart? In other words, do I lose at 0 or -1 hp?

You loose when there is no more heart to use. You reload hearts while playing.
