The challenge and the tools you have unlock through progression, but there is no campaign of any sorts.
You also eventually unlock weekly challenges, that are large levels with unique rules to make the game more challenging to veteran players.
It would be great to see something like a set of goals to achieve in game. I don't like to play games just to play them. It's great to reach some goal, then - another one for some potential reward etc.
In terms of objectives, it is a lot closer to a risk of rain than it is to The Sims.
For the rest, find friends to play together. It's more fun to play a coop based game with people. The dev take a big risk by doing a coop game. But they managed to make it enjoyable for single player. Thanks them for that.
