Can you use a USB Atari joystick?
Rather than a thumb controlled stick.

Not working for me.

I'm running into trouble trying to use the 2600-daptor. It's recognized beautifully in Windows and on Stella, but not here :(

Sounds like to me that this game uses Xinput rather than DirectInput.
What a shame.

A workaround would be using a program like JoyToKey & map the joystick to keys (Up is W,
Down is S, Button is Spacebar, etc)
Should work that way.

I am working with Tom, the maker of 2600-daptor and he is aware of the problem and trying to come up with a solution. He's keeping in touch with me on the progress, and I'll post when he has found a solution - assuming there is one!

It would be great. The funny thing that mapping xinput to Atari joysticks would also make them usable with any other randomly selected software with xinput support.

I just bought a Retrolink USB Atari joystick and I'm using it in Atari Vault with x360ce. I've mapped both the 360 controller's stick and dpad to the Atari stick and the A button to the fire button. I can play most games in the collection this way.

I have this but not the Atari USB stick, not sure if it would help at all, just an FYI if you weren't aware -

It's called USB Classic Crystal according to WIndows.

Has this issue been sorted yet? I have a USB "CX-10"(Atari 2600) style joystick that works for other games(such as Archon).

I've got a Thrustmaster USB controller. It has a d-pad, mode and start buttons, two left and right triggers, and 6 action buttons. I get no response from Atari Vault with this controller.

Additionally, when I go into controls, I see configurations for what appears to be XBox controllers. Is this to day that only Xbox-type controllers are compatible? If so, can I get an Xbox controller to work on my Mac?

Yes, I bought Atari Vault for Mac. Yes, it plays the games. Any further contradictory messaghes shall be met with the rebuttal of... SHUT UP!
