Sounds like to me that this game uses Xinput rather than DirectInput.
What a shame.
A workaround would be using a program like JoyToKey & map the joystick to keys (Up is W,
Down is S, Button is Spacebar, etc)
Should work that way.
It would be great. The funny thing that mapping xinput to Atari joysticks would also make them usable with any other randomly selected software with xinput support.

Additionally, when I go into controls, I see configurations for what appears to be XBox controllers. Is this to day that only Xbox-type controllers are compatible? If so, can I get an Xbox controller to work on my Mac?
Yes, I bought Atari Vault for Mac. Yes, it plays the games. Any further contradictory messaghes shall be met with the rebuttal of... SHUT UP!
