Again, one of the things you have to do to prepare the game to work with a paddle is to go into the game's Options->Controls and set the control to Absolute instead of Relative. After that...
As to compatibility, newer games and newer operating systems these days have standardised on the XInput interface. Drivers do exist, though, that bridge the gap to XInput. If you can map the paddle to the left stick axes in a legacy controller support driver once you've set the game to "Absolute" mode, it should work. You will probably be best off using the newest beta to accomplish this though.
