That's not strictly true. There were plenty of other publishers and developers out there other than Atari. Activision for one.
This is the reason why I bring up this topic. In the beginning, Michael, the commentator for Rage Quit said, "Dodge 'Em? No, more like '♥♥♥♥ 'Em!' The ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ who made this piece of ♥♥♥♥." I think Michael is referring to the "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥" as Atari, and he thinks the game sucks. I think he said that out of anger because he can't get past the first level.
But the 2600 games, I didn't care much for them back when they where brand new. Their commercial arcade games where some of the class leaders IMO and my personal favorites of the golden age era of arcade games and I actually have more fun playing them today than I did back in the 80s.
Here's some pics of my games:

Outdated? Yes, sure, whatever. Even 5 to 10 years old games are seriously outdated now. What is your point?
Im almost sure people will not care about Assasins Creed Rogue or Call of Duty Ghosts 40 years after relase (lol, 40 years, people dont care about those already). And yet almost 40 years after release (NOW!) people still like to play Atari games, so i guess they did something right.
Even after the crash in 1983, when Nintendo was ready to enter the US marker with the NES system, called the Famlicon in Japan, they orig. went to Atari with the idea of Atart marketing and selling the system in the US. It was only because Atari backed out, that Nintendo was able to establish video games again.
