Don't know the more advanced wiremod tools like angles and such, but I'd try to help.
ONLY make wire visible for decoration, when its all over the place, DO NOT make it visible. Set it to 0.00 to make it invisible.
Gates can check for 2 inputs. Lets say I want to make it so that I need to press this button to make the door move. I'd need a constant value which is a value that's constantly outputted no matter what into B on the gate so it checks for a matching 1 value, then link the button to the A on the gate, and finally, link the gate to the machine (Like a thruster) to push the door.
Numpad inputs values are values that output a number when you press a button on your peripheral device.
With the gates, you can make it so that you need to make another device output for it to work.
This is the mere glimpse of whats in wiremod. I hope you can find out how to use it, good luck.
