What’s with all the black figure discussions?

I keep seeing post talking about some sort of black figure in the background of their game. Are they talking about some sort Garrys mod creepypasta?

i think they are just players who first set up an NPC somewhere in a dark part of the map and colour it black, and then they make their "true" stories, why do i say true in quotes? reason is: the stories are FAKE.

I can’t believe I would join this shadow figure trend, but here I am, I’ve spotted a shadow figure once, although it wasn’t subtle, basically, I was making a rocket on GM construct, and I accidentally blew it up, and I took my anger out on a combine, this was in front of the entrance of the building with the dark room, white room, etc, and right after I killed him, I saw a black figure run past the doorway, so what I did was throw multiple nukes in the building and blew it up, it might’ve been my imaginination, but that was weird
