Paying for addons is ABSURD, CRINGE and IMMATURE (gmodstore-com).
Send me as much clown awards as you want.
Call me a brokie.
Call me out for "being rude to addon creators".
Call me out for "being cringe and immature myself".
My point will not change -

Paying for addons is absurd.

If you went to steam worskhop for profit, you've picked the wrong place.
No, but like, who do expect to buy your addons? Average 12y.o. gmod rookie? An oldschool valvefan who only plays source games? Maybe a person who makes addons themselves?
No one is going to spend even a dollar to buy an addon.
Workshop modding is absolutely volunteer and personal, it is not a "job" or funded activity.
Even tho, if you upload a good addon free, it is a clever idea to put a donation link.
If you got a big fan of your mod, you will for sure get some coins for your work.

And, i want to ask a question for anyone who posted their paid work on gmodstore or whatever other platform -

How much income did you receive?

Hold your horses.

There are paid mods? You sure it's not a scam site posing as Facepunch property?

I've heard the drama around the prone mod, but I've never used any of these mods nor have I ever been on gmod servers anyway. This guy just went butthurt imo.

Beatrun, Vehicle Mod, and an alarming amount of addons using the wOS Base have most - if not all - of their content locked behind a paywall, and that's just to name a few.

I'm in agreement with OP; if you want to make profit off of the Workshop, stick to either advertising Patreon/KoFi links, or doing commissions for 3D models/model ports. (Though the latter may be slightly more controversial as of late.)

Nobody is discrediting these peoples' coding skills, of course - again, something like Beatrun was impressive in of itself - but very few people would ever/will ever willingly pay for a mod made for a 20 year old game.

in addition to that, one of the mod creators with a paid mod specifically planted trojan in their mod and released it on crack sites just to dox them and name n shame them

I was wondering why wOS was "so big", yet so little was even made for it. Why would I pay for mods on a 20 year old game? It's like paying for a modpack for skyrim when you can just do it yourself for free.

y'all telling me y'aint heard of beatrun?

hold up, paid addons, what is even going on at this point?
It's a thing for a really long time, their add-ons are for server owners, you might think nobody would buy them but DarkRP server owners DOES buy them.

This includes many other gamemodes. A lot of server hoster buys those add-ons.

Garry is, as always silent about this.

The DarkRP gamemode itself is also a paid mod, the one on the workshop is just a half baked free version without any feature.

i mean thats a huge problem guys, the greed and vanity of these authors leaves these addons for oligarch kids, but the average gmod community loses these good addons like advanced medical mod and other shi.
