it's nintendo, if someone here wants to keep crying that it's that one troll, fine then, show us proof of THE NOTICE THAT FACEPUNCH RECEIVED AND GARRY VERIFIED being fake, not your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ from two months ago, the thing Facepunch received recently.
I'm not on Nintendo's side, I'm trying to get everyone to understand that it seems to be Nintendo doing this to stop people from Coping that it was that one DMCA guy
They've been doing that sort of annoying stuff for years but they're still making sales, it's just people being in an abusive relationship with Nintendo
The addon themselves (& mods in general) belong to the author, HOWEVER in this case if let's say the addon is a model of Mario, then Mario is an intellectual property of Nintendo due to copyright, this does not make the addon by default illegal (it's still the author's mod btw, they just have copyright material from a company in it),
even though Nintendo (& this is what's happening right now) has the right to take this example addon down as they wish to not have addons containing elements of their intellectual property on this website (the steam workshop), they're doing this by the said legal document they sent to Facepunch pretty much saying "hey, we don't want addons with our copyright material in your steamworkshop"
A mod can also be Illegal (this is what happened with that one Palworld mod) if it is sold by the creator for monetary gain (even one cent), which is not the case here on the steam workshop but it's still good to point out, mostly because this can very well be what ticked Nintendo off & had them end up doing that ♥♥♥♥.
Remember: Any company can do this, Valve CAN take down any mods from games that contain Valve copyright material (for example: a half life 2 combine prop used in another game that isn't theirs), Blizzard can take down any mod containing models from their franchises, it's just that it's not a big deal to THEM, but it is one to Nintendo, because Nintendo.
Creativity isn't going away, Derivative works are still legal, this part of your comment is a hyperbole making it seems like we're in 1984 or whatever dystopian book people quote that they never read.
It's not IMMEDIATLY Illegal to make addons, it's just that any copyright material you make that comes from another IP can be taken down, every company has this power & you're overblowing it because the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ are doing it.
so yes, it makes sense to me mate. It's very uncool, but it makes sense because this is how laws are, if you don't want it to be that way.... then ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ vote or put some pressure or something I dunno
