I opened the game one day and to my shock it gave me a virus and deleted hl2?! I never used a cracked version of this game at all it just showed up could it be an addon?

Nah, the recent update is causing false flags that are making anti virus softwares confused. Validate your game files, and launch Gmod in either 32x or 64x mode. This is just what I've heard from other people, and it's worked for me.

Just to be safe though, maybe uninstall your most recently updated addons you are subscribed to.

Yeah, Rubat probably just messed something up again when making the most recent update. Everyone I know including me also got that virus notification. So unless GMod is currently being hacked right now (which the probability of the event is extremely low), it's just Rubat and/or Windows Security System being stupid.

Actually had 3 lesser ones pop up on my anti virus but its cleared now
