The second one is a sad copycat who felt the need to ruin his own great mods with this nonsense, and I can only hope that this doesn't become a pattern in the way that most terrible things do.
At least we have the tried and true method of going into subscribed content and sorting content by Date Updated. Seriously glad they have that option.
But nothing else was affected right? I unsubscribed to EVERYTHING immediately afterwards.
You don't need to unsub from addons, but do be cognizant of the implications. If you see an addon update, there's a potential for something unexpected to happen, so see if they wrote anything in their changelog or responded to comments. This'll give you a better sense of what addons can be trusted.
