Also the more NPC and players you have the more it'll bottle neck your Frame Rate.
I would consider auditing your Add-ons if I was you.
What that means is go Add on by add on. Making sure you have the most stable version selected and disable any visual mods you have selected and checking your console for errors and pay close attention to the bottom right corner of your pause screen for any critical Errors.
More errors you have the more it slows down Gmod.
The game is just very old at this point with a very old engine. Not sure if you are playing on singleplayer or multiplayer, but on multiplayer you should still see rather good performance with those specifications, but still limited by the game.
So yeah not sure if still upgrade my PC next year (due to finnancial issues) or it's Gmod that gets very unstable with more mods installed.
