If you are worried try to play with servers with friends but it’s really rare to find a Gmod hacker now a days in servers but yeah just never join bot servers and make sure you have protections to prevent a DDos attack effecting your computer.

A DDoS or DoS attack, for a singular attacker, is a Distributed Denial of Service attack that works by a person sending a bunch of requests to your Wi-Fi/ Router to the point it crashes it taking you off of the internet until the attack is halted if so try to get your ip address changed or use a vpn

Most serious server owners will have something in place to combat ddos attacks. Whether it be their own solution or one provided from a server hosting company

honestly screw the "no sketchy servers" thing. There isn't a good definition. DDoS happens a lot, more than it should. Either get a VPN or tell the staff owners that it happened, or make sure they know. I have been on really big servers that aren't "sketchy" at all. It still happens. If you are still worried though, ask them if they have a DoS protectant and get a VPN. (It's free but lots of free things on the internet already take data from you.)

every server can be ddosed. you have to rely on the server owner or staff to do something about it. "every other game" doesnt have a way to prevent a ddos, its just the server owners protecting their servers.
