How does roleplaying work in GMod?

Something I've talked with my friends about is trying to do a big quest roleplay, as DND has been something we've wanted to do. But I think GMod could be better, as we can actually BE the characters we want to be. Are there any good/essential addons I should subscribe to before I start getting the basic stuff?

you always want counter-strike source for models and textures. incredibly useful for any type of server or just building stuff in gmod

for the assets. you can also wait for a sale which will happen in like a week or so
