Do you still need hamachi do play with friends?

no you dont create a server and invite them in the main menu go to start new game click on singleplayer change it to how many players you want and ♥♥♥♥ around with the setting and create and invite your friends

I've checked before. It just gives the option to join and then some weird server doesn't exist crap.

Goto game menu, select amount of players. Check the box that says peer to peer. Start game. Should work.

If it doesn't work give them your public ip by searching "my ip" on google. Tell them to enable console and hold ~ to open console on the main menu. Then tell them to type "connect (the ip you gave them)" and it should work.

That only works if you port forward and if the server allows incoming connections in the first place. I think the commands something like heartbleed and sv_lan 0?

I know this, I was teaching Willyw..anker why that wouldn't work.

However not all servers accept incoming connections by default
