There was also lots of good answers which you can't find anywhere else, removing the forums was pointless, it was not costing him any money to keep them up, he doesn't care about the garry's mod community any more.
Naw, models are still being ported. It's that a lot of the info modders would use to learn how to do stuff is now obscured (if not actually gone) since it seems many (but not all) of the old threads are still available, just on an archived version of the facepunch forums, found here: https://web.archive.org/web/20190406030456/https://forum.facepunch.com/ The search doesn't work (unless I'm mistaken). But if people find a link from an internet search, that was to the old forums, they can put the rest of it on the end of that url and see the old page (if it is a page that was archived.)
I found on the new forums there is a thread about the archiving: https://knockout.chat/thread/848/1 This link gives an example of how to manipulate the url to see the old pages.
There's still a lot of people that know how to port. There's the new forums to ask questions on. We can rebuild.
Archive url: https://web.archive.org/web/20190406030456/https://forum.facepunch.com/
Url you want: https://forum.facepunch.com/f/fbx/qxhe/Detailed-Scenebuild-Props-by-CK/1/
So since the beginning of the url you want " https://forum.facepunch.com/ " is already included in the archive page link, take this much: " f/fbx/qxhe/Detailed-Scenebuild-Props-by-CK/1/ " and put on the end to create:
https://web.archive.org/web/20190406030456/https://forum.facepunch.com/f/fbx/qxhe/Detailed-Scenebuild-Props-by-CK/1/
It's archived, I see it. Good.
I myself don't know how to port one model as ragdoll for gmod. Spent entire day searching - couldn't find complete guide.
but how the user supposed to know about certain link if he never was able to see it?
Yes. But what about those pages which aren't featured anywhere? The ones you usually would find via search engines
