Yeah I have had the same feeling as you for a looooong while now. Almost 2 year I believe. But yeah GMOD has all this potential for amazing roleplay due to how it works. Its a heavily interactive space where you can make anything so long as you have the coding knowledge and the modeling talents. Also the fact that there are several RPG games like Vampire the Masquerade and Dark Messiah that run on the same engine makes it easier to hack things in. ♥♥♥♥ there are even plug ins that allow for rolling that goes unused due to a lot of servers just forgetting it exists. Think of how GMOD can be used to play stuff like DnD or the actual Star Wars Roleplaying Games thanks to the Dice Plug-ins. Sure it would scare away the "I wanna run around and shoot stuff" crowd of GMOD but it would definitely be innovative compared to the copypaste swarms of Clone Wars and Imperial RPs. Infact you could probably hold LARP or West March style events with it.

Sadly nothing innovative will ever come out of those servers. Those servers are lazy and would rather copy and paste the same game over and over again. They'd rather have a bunch of minges running around without consequence ruining the experience for new players that would actually enjoy the game. This... This is why I fled to Tabletop Roleplaying Games like the actual Star Wars RPG because with Gmod RP it lacks the RP. Because the moment you try to RP or build a story with the staff you just get ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bullied by the swarms of minges that abuse their anonymity and the audience they can get to jerk themselves off over how they mowed down an entire debriefing. This is a problem that'll never get solved and personally I blame those Trolling Star Wars RP videos for it. Sure some servers deserve it but now there are too much of those videos and at this point they've made a lot of those servers even worse to play on due to people thinking they are the peak of comedy by spamming racial slurs in OOC.

My best recommendation is that if you have a Discord and a Reddit Account is to escape to Tabletop Roleplaying Games if you want Roleplay. Its what I did and I'm happier for that choice.

Edit: If you are unsure what PRP is it means Police RP so imagine that but translated to a Star Wars environment. Our other idea is to convert Combine versus Rebels by Definitive Networks for a Star Wars audience.
