Can't update garry's mod

I Can't Update Garry's Mod. Also Can't join any servers. playing on a windows 7

Happened to me all I did was uninstall and made sure everything was completly clean before reinstalling. Might have an easier solution but I coul not be bothered...

All you have to do is simply right click on gmod, go to properties, and in there somewhere there is a thing that allows you to set it to autoupdate so it updates itself, you don't have to reinstall the whole thing! If that does not work, it may be a big update that requires you to restart your steam or possibly your computer, though this is usually only the case for updates to steam itself.
