Black/Purple checkered Textures

Yes uh.. i redownloaded gmod on my new computer and every thing is appearing in black/purple textures. That and my Spawnlists dont show (except for the Addons i have downloaded). Icons dont show the icon model. This didnt happen on previous computers, One being a windows 7 and not showing any problems like this (This is a windows 7 too). Please help.

Redownloaded gmod and Counter strike source, Pretty sure i have the proper textures. Like HL2 Textures are popping up Black/pink. like rp_city18, almost EVERYTHING is checkered. Only a couple textures will show as normal. Like the Weapons and some of the terrain that and NPCs show normally. Also icons show again. Edit: Okay now the icons are back to not showing. Like i dont want to play on flatgrass only, its like the only map that doesnt show up checkered. I did not just waste money getting CSS and Gmod just for it to fail to load everything. >:l

acctualy it shouldnt do that you must have done something to the game to make that happen...

i'm having the exact same issue, my friend bought gmod for me today and nearly all the textures are missing and replaced with purple and black squares

Do you own any Source engine games? Gmod is a MOD that needs one to run it correctly.

The main ones are Half-Life 2, Team Fortress 2 (free) , Counter Strike:Source, Portal, etc.

I dont remember gmod having to have Half-Life 2 for textures to work. They have shown all this time except for now (i dont have half-life 2, yet it worked on previous computers like my grandpa's). I have Counter-strike, dont need Portal cause i dont have any portal models or textures. CSS I have. EP1 and 2 i dont have, But their textures were only a small thing in a map. like Skylife i think had a little cave that was checkered. Not the map. and TF2 i have. So It must be gmod.

open steam and go to Library and right click Garry's mod goto properties
click set launch options and put -dxlevel 81

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ some one actually replied.. dxlevel.. isnt that something to do with shadows? cause i remember watching a video on how to make the shadows look.. Better.

I have this problem for maps that were working properly before, but after a while, most textures are now pink and black. I don't know what happened but it's really bothering me :I

I actually deleted EVERYTHING off of my Subscriptions list. Anything that includes Lens flares, Changing graphics and the Stand Pose tool will, Screw the game up. Well for me at least. Stand pose brings most models to a T-pose. Permanently. Other graphic changing add-ons will just render things Purple/black or something else.

it seems like every time they release an update to fix one problem, it creates another problem in its place.i hate it when that happens

I was sure they were going to fix this problem in the update. Argh. I am annoyed that nearly all the maps I have are all black and pink. The Team Fortress 2 maps are now missing, and the models do not spawn or will spawn into black and pink texture.
