GMod Crashes When Loading Maps (Singleplayer)

Everytime I try to play GMod singleplayer (no servers involved), it crashes after I choose a map. It loads about 1/4 of the way, freezes, and then exits the game. Any idea whats happening and how to fix it?

Mayonnaise, while the guy before me, may have meant well, let me tell you my situation. I had the same thing with crahsing multiple times on multiple maps, but only on singleplayer, like yourself, so I ruled the cause of the crashing as an addon related thing, the reason was, after I finally pulled out my old addons folder, and replaced it with a new addons folder that only had .gma addons, and also taking an extra step of disabling every addon installed, and reloading to see if one addon had an issue; when I played today, it was working okay, after I made those changes.

Might want to check your console after lua errors that will tell where its located and remove that addon or folder or whatever, Even though you like the addon i suggest you to remove it or it will keep crashing and ruining ur gameplay, Worked fine after i removed the addons

I'm having a similar error, except it only happens when it says it's finished loading. Then, the window just closes out. Not even an error message, just the window closing out. I'm running Ubuntu 13.10 and I only just recently got GMod to work.
Any ideas?

i have well over 2000 addons and my game crashes everytime i try to play a single player game but loads up just fine for multiplayer. i am also not getting an error message.
