Copying addons from a friend?

So me and my girl friend both play Gmod and she has addons that I dont. We love playing together on a local just goofing around, but when we try to play one has to host it then put sv_kickerrornum 0 because one of us will get too many errors from not having the same addons. So I went though our network on our computers and copyed EVERY single file under her Gmod directory and pasted it to mine. I did NOT overwrite any files that I already had. But when I open gmod I dont have any of the addons she has. Just the same ones I've always had. Is there a way for me to make gmod check for the new files or something? We just wanna sync up addons with out finding each individual one to download and go through some crazy process. Thanks in advance.

Update: I've checked and read just about everything I can find as far as addons for gmod and I read that theres supposed to be a "gma" folder with my gma files in it under addons but under my addons was just materials, models, settings, sound, and a ton of gma files. I made a gma folder and put ALL my gma's in that folder and opened gmod. It says its downloading addons. So does that mean I fixed it?

Update: Okay. I've got it how I want it now but all the addons pictures dont load and they all have like +1,212,081,482 or -310,446,518 and when I try to start even a solo better yet join an online game made entire PC gets locked up. Any suggestions?

Your friend can make a collection of all of the addons that they have so you can download them

I have tried that too with my friend, but it didn't work, so i think the only thing you can do is your girl friend have to say the names of the addons she got, and you have to go on addons and on the bottom it stands steam workshop or something like that and you go into shearch inside the workshop, and you have to search on everything se has and hold you mouse over the picture she got on the addons and click plus to download the addons, but when you are done you should restart gmod so you make sure all the addons 100% sure works. :D
