I can't download addons from the workshop

Ive had this problem for about 2 years and its just on my last straw.
Don't comment if you don't know how it fix it.
I have nothing in my addons tab in gmod. I can't download any.

There is a way you can download addons without the workshop. It is lengthy though. If you wish to know reply to me!

You can choose to follow this tutorial, this is not a hack/virus, it just seems shady. Anyway:
1. You need to get GWTool (http://www.solidfiles.com/d/d631c154d4/GWTool-v0.3.zip)
2. Once extracted, go to http://steamworkshopdownloader.com/ and paste the Addon's workshop link into the searchbar.
3. Once downloaded, extract the file with 7Zip.
4. Once extracted, open GWTool.exe and drag the extracted file into the little window that will appear.
5. After that you should have a file called whatever Addon you downloaded. Put the folder in Steam>steamapps>common>garrysmod>garrysmod>addons and Voila!
