Why is killing someone in RP classed as "RDM"?
Before you say "Because you can't kill people because it makes it less fun!" hear me out!

Alright. The reason I ask is because why is this so BAD in the RP community? I mean. It's RP. It's supossed to be like real life. People kill other people IRL and they get thrown in jail (Obviously).

But when you kill someone on a game and it's supossed to be like real life, you have the risk of getting kicked/banned. Instead of being banned for let's say assassinating the mayor or something you should be hunted down and killed or put in jail instead of "RDM BAN HIM!"

There are assassins in real life aren't there? There are robbers in real life right? Exactly. Yes there are people like that. But suddenly a hitman comes and it's "Okay" for him to kill someone.

To me none of this sounds right. Just a thought to keep in mind.

Thanks for reading!

Most RP administrators are absurdly strict and try to look for an excuse to ban anyone they can. If you want to avoid this, consider just setting up your own server - it's what I do to avoid admin-asshattery.

Its actually not that bad... Cause ive played on Quite a few RP Servers and they only ban you for actual RDM. By this I mean if you have a reason to kill someone, then its fine but im pretty sure you wouldnt go around on the streets killing every single person you see... So yeah theres a Difference between RDM and RPing... So next time you wanna Assassinate Mayor because he wont Lower taxes, or hes a bad Mayor, go Ahead and Assassinate him, its not RDM if you have a reason. And make sure you tell the Admin why you killed the person just so they dont ban you for RDM... and yeah some admins are Abusive and try to find ways to ban everyone. :diaxe::diwrench::dsham::balloon::box::gmod::bkey:

People need to remember that people in real life have been murdered over PS3s.

Doesn't matter. If you can't defend yourself, whoever jacked the car deserves to keep it. Civilians attack each other over items - rather it be a car or a piece of dirt, and everything in between - every day. It isn't exactly common, but it happens. I see no reason to be ban someone who stole something. Just because you're mad at someone because they jacked your stuff doesn't mean they immediately deserve to be permanently banned from the server.

Yes it is annoying. Especially how banning people for "rdm" implies that someone killing others for no reason could never happen IRL.

It's RP, roleplay the consequences instead of shouting "rdm" and taking everyone out of character because of something that happened to you.

Well, it would be a MASSIVE coincidence if someone just killed you as soon as you bought a gun or a car? Also some servers only let the OWNERS get in the car, not other people, also some servers directly put the gun in your inventory, instead of dropping it on the ground.

ALSO most servers or even maybe ALL of them let you spawn with your inventory, AND your money, so, I think your point has been proven wrong.

Mainly, it's to minimize chaos. I think the reason for this rule is to keep kids from gunning down anyone they see. RP (don't even talk about DarkRP) is to simulate real life situations, and everyone shooting each other with guns wouldn't quite be that realistic...

I see your point and have often wondered the same thing, but it's probably best that there are RDM rules.

If you have a reason to kill them than it is not. Otherwise it is.

Preach it bro. I agree with everything you said.

I'm surprised. I never knew this many people thought the same thing. Only time I killed someone and I guess it would be classed as RDM was when I assassinated the mayor of this server. TBH. I don't play RP much. 1 because most servers are filled with 7 Year old admins that ban you for no reason. 2 Well. Prop killing. Need I say more? At the time. I thought it would be okay to shoot at him. Luckily I did not get banned :P
You are more likely to kill someone in game then IRL, thatsn because consequences are smaller and the psychology behind it is completely different. Furthermore killing people ingame is way easier. Without an RDM-Rule everybody would be trolling around - trust me i tech supported an altis Life Server once. Nobody in reallife would run around and mug everyone on their way. by the way, the game is supposed to be fun to everyone - and RDM is a good way to ensure quality rp and fun.
