Connection Failed after 4 retries
When I try to join my friends server it always says connection failed after 4 retries. Is it my Hamachi? My friend always puts it on a local server and all the vids I watch is in Spanish or something. Please help and I'll give you a discount at Freddy Fazbear pizza for 50% off.

Odds are he has something setup incorrectly. Ensure he has ports 27005-27015 open, verify that you are using the correct IP address, and ensure sv_lan is set to 0.

If it still doesn't work, consider just setting it up yourself.

I run a gmod server on linux, but make sure the ports are open and that your friends isp is not blocking it from running.

Ew Hamachi.....dude just use Evolve. Its safer and easier to use. Hamachi is a peice of crap....no offense. If you go on a public server with it your basically having an open hole right into your computer.

Why would you go on a public server with hamachi?
Hamachi is meant for making private servers with your friends

Hamachi actually causes a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of security issues, alongside often randomly causing internet disconnections... just use a dedicated server, and if your friend is the host, explaining to him what the problems may be is all that needs doing.

Eh, the security issue - unless you frequently download stuff/hand out your network name/IP, it isn't much of a problem, but personally, I've had a LOT of issues with Hamachi (not going to go into detail, no reason to explain, really). Some people are lucky enough to be able to avoid it's ability to ♥♥♥♥ up your internet connection, but in the end, Hamachi is useless anyway. Unless you want to setup a dedicated LAN game (pointless unless you have no internet connection and are connected via ethernet cable to the same network as someone else), Hamachi has no use. Just setting up a public game, slapping a password on, and having people connect to your IP is good enough.

Ok man im just saying you dont know how to use hamachi if u r saying its useless. Hamachi is not for making public servers at all....thats how u get hacked.
Badstormer Oct 13, 2014 @ 9:41pm
How does it get you 'hacked'? I've been running servers for TF2/GMod/Minecraft/CSGO/CSS/Killing Floor/L4D2/etc. for years, and I've never been hacked. Just having ports open doesn't mean people can barge in and jack your stuff, they can do so even with your ports closed. If you'd like to elaborate, I'd like to know what your logic your statement is.

If you have a firewall and an antivirus, you're safe. End of story. If someone else connects to your network, just boot them out and change the password. Boom. Easy. If you get DoSed/DDoSed, you can file a lawsuit, and your ISP can track down who, precisely, started the DoS attack (DDoS attacks, however, aren't quite as simple). That's really all there is to worry about.

Heres a solution, plain and simple: Don't use it. Use Evolve it is MUCH safer.

You don't need to use either of them. Again, unless you want to make dedicated LAN games, it is literally pointless to use any sort of tunneling software for the sake of hosting a server. As long as you have an internet connection, a regular, password-protected public game is far easier to work with.
